In 1691 Lower Norfolk County was divided into two new counties: Norfolk and Princess Anne. It is believed that 60% of these early settlers of Lower Norfolk County (1637) were indentured servants coming from overseas. These marriage records start with the earliest known surviving marriages for the county. It is believed that the earlier dates were lost or destroyed during the Revolutionary War. This is the first time that this book has ever been reprinted since its 1961 original publication.
