Johnson County was created in 1834 from Lafayette County.  It is located on the western side of the state with the Santa Fe Trail passing right through it. This area of Missouri saw its fair share of pioneer settlers coming from the East in search of new lands and prosperity.  Many of whom came from AL, CT, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MO, NC, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, WV, along with the countries of England, Germany, Ireland, Prussia, Scotland & Switzerland.  This book is filled with hundreds of Biographical sketches giving such information as marriages, births, deaths, divorces, occupation, military service, education, previous residence, names of siblings, names of parents & grandparents along with their residences current & previous, names of spouse’s parents and their residence, in some instances a physical description of the biographies, and many, many other useful tidbits of information that can help the family historian.
