This deed index includes the date of instrument, grantor, date proven, (except when proved in court), Book #, Page #, and description or the number of acres and water courses when given. The State Grant number is given. The grantees are also indexed, except for the state grants. As there was no 1790 census for the land mentioned in the oldest deeds lies in the state of Tennessee. This book contains the names of more than 40,000 individuals.
