The vast majority of the abstracts concern events in Spartanburg and Greenville Counties, S.C. Besides marriages and deaths, other items of genealogical interest are included, such as: probates, administrations, sheriff’s sales, church committees, county commissioners lists, unclaimed letters, and etc… Lists of defendants in court cases often name South Carolinians who moved out of state. The intent was to abstract any item which showed a relationship or put an individual in a place and time.
