Dobbs County, North Carolina Bible Records, Volumes 1 & 2

During the Revolutionary War, in 1799 it was divided to create Wayne County from its western boundary. And in 1791, it was renamed Glasgow (now Greene County) and Lenoir Counties. Dobbs County ceased to exist at this time. Bible records are another unique source of research material that can help one bridge that gap in the family line that may be lacking in other legal records. Volume 1 and 2 contain 150 Bible and Family records dealing with families who lived in Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties. By use of these records with the 1850 census, cemetery records and estate records, many gaps in the history of the area families prior to 1850 can be filled. And many of the records give migration of the branches of the families west and south from the old Dobbs area. The author has provided bot a full names index along with a slave name index.
